A small practice · A free resource

A little room
for reading.

Not a book a week. Not every spare moment. Just three days you choose, and a little reading that feels worth returning to.

Make it yours

Three decisions before page one.

Try this for one week. A routine is a plan to learn from, not another thing to catch up on.

  1. 01 · When

    Choose three weekdays.

Pick specific days that fit your week, such as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Give reading a place: after lunch, on the train, or before bed. These are selected days, not a quota of any three sessions.

  2. 02 · How much

    Set a useful minimum.

Choose something small enough for an ordinary busy day: two pages, five minutes, or one poem. Pick one measure. You can keep reading, but reaching your minimum is enough to mark the session complete.

  3. 03 · What next

    Review once a week.

Choose a review day. Notice what helped and what got in the way. Keep the plan, shrink the minimum, or move a reading day for next week. If you miss a session, return on the next planned day; no catch-up required.

A completed fictional example

An ordinary week
counts, too.

Alex chose five minutes after making evening tea. Wednesday got away from them. On Friday, they returned to the book.

At Sunday’s review, they kept the minimum and moved next week’s Wednesday session to Thursday. The card is information, not a grade.

Keep a little space on paper.

Print the blank card, choose your three days, and leave it inside your book. Mark ✓ when you meet your minimum, or — if a planned session passes without reading.

Use your browser’s Print command. The print layout includes only the blank card, on A4 or Letter paper.

The paper routine is complete on its own. If you’d like to record it in EmptyMind, create a Habit Tracker titled “Read for five minutes,” choose your start date, and select your three weekdays under Custom.

In Focus, mark today complete after reading. EmptyMind tracks completions, not minutes or pages, and does not send reminders. A missed scheduled day resets the current streak after that day ends; unscheduled days do not.

Free includes five entries shared across habits and days-since counters. This routine uses one entry. An account is required to save and sync.
